New Music Monday: Tate McRae
Hey Jaded Babes! Welcome back to this month's New Music Monday! This month, we are so excited to share our favorite new release, ‘she’s all i wanna be’ by Tate McRae!
‘she’s all i wanna be’ was released February 4th, and we have been obsessed ever since! Tate McRae has had our hearts for quite some time, and ‘she’s all i wanna be’ is another song that feels like it was written exactly about our lives. ‘she’s all i wanna be’ discusses the comparison that so many of us put ourselves through, and talks about how things always look better when they are somebody else’s.
‘she’s all i wanna be’ peaked at number fifty-two on The Billboard Hot 100, and has been charting for two weeks. ‘she’s all i wanna be’ was released along with an accompanying music video directed by Tusk and Michelle Dawley, and shows Tate at a dance audition competing with a girl that she wants to be like. McRae is a talented dancer in her own right, and this music video gives her the chance to show off her moves.
‘she’s all i wanna be’ has already racked up a total of over thirty one million streams, and is not Tate McRae’s only hit. ‘you broke me first’ has been Tate McRae’s highest charting song, reaching number seventeen on The Billboard Hot 100, and charting for thirty eight weeks. ‘you broke me first’ has over 870,000,000 streams, and has become McRae’s trademark hit.
Tate McRae recently said in a Genius interview that the song was inspired after a day of scrolling through social media and comparing herself to every girl she saw and feeling down on herself. ‘she’s all i wanna be’ started out as a downtempo ballad, but after receiving the original version of the song back, McRae knew that the song should feel edgier, and the song became what we know and love now. With the toxicity of social media, and the inevitable “grass is always greener” feeling, ‘she’s all i wanna be’ is an incredibly relatable song for so many of us
Speaking about this song, Tate McRae has said “This whole song is all the things that you shouldn't have to worry about. You should just have to worry about being yourself and going out and trying to find happiness and trying to find the people around you that make you the most fulfilled and the most happy. And that's the moral of the song, not to try and compare yourself to every other person out there.”
If you are a fan of any of Tate McRae’s other releases, or if you are a fan of pop music with a punk twist, be sure to check out ‘she’s all i wanna be’!

Artist Rec Friday: Dasie
Welcome back to Artist Rec Friday, this month we are absolutely so excited to recommend Dasie! Dasie is our newest favorite up and coming pop artist, and we could not be more excited to share her for this month's Artist Rec Friday!
Dasie is an artist from Salt Lake City, Utah, and she specializes in her own genre of music: petty pop! Drawing inspiration from artists like Maisie Peters and Taylor Swift, Dasie writes ‘petty’ songs about past relationships and things in her life that just didn't quite work out.
With just four tracks released, and more to come, Dasie has over one thousand monthly listeners on Spotify. Dasie’s debut single, a cover of ‘Hopelessly Devoted to You’, originally sung by Olivia Newton John, has racked up almost fifteen thousand streams. Dasie’s version of ‘Hopelessly Devoted to You’ is the perfect version to cry to, and gave the song a new life, and new meaning.
Her second release, an original song called ‘Tainted Summer’, has racked up an impressive nine thousand streams, and is the perfect windows down, car scream along song. Her songwriting is comparable to that of Taylor Swift, and Lana Del Rey, and continues to be gorgeously unique and eloquent.
Her third and fourth releases are two unique and beautiful versions of the same song, her TikTok hit ‘Wish I Was Cool’. ‘Wish I Was Cool’, original Dasie’s Version has racked up over sixteen thousand streams, and the second release, ‘Wish I Was Cool - Live Sad Girl Version’ is an acoustic version of the song that has become even more petty. ‘Wish I Was Cool’ is a song about someone treating you like you are less than them, and then evidently feeling the desire to wish you were cool enough for them.
If you like artists like Ella Jane, Maisie Peters, Taylor Swift, or Dylan, be sure to check out Dasie and stream her songs! Dasie’s debut EP will be coming in the early months of this year, so be sure to keep your eyes out for that and stream her other singles in the meantime!

The LVI Super Bowl Halftime Show
This month, on Sunday February 13th, was Super Bowl LVI. The Cincinnati Bengals faced the Los Angeles Rams, but if you're anything like me, the halftime show was the main attraction. With huge names and show stopping performances, this year’s halftime show has been all the rave.
With performances by Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar, this year’s performance was one of the biggest halftime shows in recent history. Mary J. Blige is the only artist who has performed at the Super Bowl before, as she performed in the 2001 halftime show. The eleven song halftime show was legendary in its own right, and definitely one to remember.
The stage was filled with dozens of dancers and several rooms where dancers were inside and on the roofs dancing, and the floor displayed a map that was the birds eye view of a city. . Classic cars were scattered amongst the field, and the crowd was so excited, the screaming almost drowned out the music.
The show was kicked off by Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg performed their 1999 hit ‘The Next Episode’ followed by ‘California Love’. Following the Snoop and Dre duets, 50 Cent made an appearance to sing ‘In Da Club’ while hanging upside down.
Mary J. Blige stole the show with her shiny bodysuit and thigh high boots while singing ‘Family Affair’ followed by ‘No More Drama’. The crowd was so loud when Blige came out, the music was almost covered with screams. Mary J. Blige is the Queen of Hip Hop and Soul and she definitely held her title with this performance.
Kendrick Lamar followed Blige by performing his 2012 hit ‘m.A.A.d city’ from his album ‘good kid, m.A.A.d city’. He followed ‘m.A.Ad. city’ by his song ‘Alright’ from his 2015 album ‘To Pimp A Butterfly’. Lamar is one of the greatest rappers of our generation, and his showmanship at the halftime show brought an energy unlike any other.
Following Lamar’s ‘Alright’, Kendrick Lamar, Dr. Dre and Eminem teamed up to perform Dre and Eminem's 2001 song ‘Forgot About Dre’. Then, Eminem performed one of his biggest songs, ‘Lose Yourself’.
Dr. Dre performed the late rapper Tupac’s song ‘I Ain’t Mad at Cha’ and the halftime show was closed out with all of the performers uniting for one last song. Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, 50 Cent, Kendrick Lamar, and Eminem all came out to end the show singing ‘Still D.R.E.’ altogether.
If you missed it, the full performance is on YouTube, and it is just as exciting and invigorating as watching the performance live broadcasting as the energy can't possibly fade!
