A Little Jaded

Vivienne Huynh

Jessie Strickland

In this episode of “A Little Jaded,” Jade and Joanna sit with Jaded’s own Vivienne Huynh! They

sit down to discuss Vivienne’s journey from Psychology student to tour rep for artists like

SUGA, Twice, and more!

Vivienne is Jaded’s VP of Creative Operations, as well as the head of Jaded’s TikTok page, and

she got her start with Jaded through discovering Jaded Productions on TikTok and felt drawn into

the notion of getting her start in the music industry as someone with a “fangirl” background.

Through social media, Vivienne was able to learn about different companies like Fan to Band

and Jaded Productions and through her own networking skills, was able to gain experience

within the live entertainment industry, which led her to her current role working in touring.

When it comes to how she got to where she is now, Vivienne has plenty of advice and anecdotes

to give to others.

Part of Vivienne’s experience draws from a practice of approaching smaller artists, working with

local venues and taking on smaller roles as a beginner, such as selling merchandise, and making

it clear that she was a novice looking for experience. This approach to beginning work in not

only the live music industry, but other aspects of the entertainment industry is extremely

commendable as it is a great way to gain experience while also building connections. It’s

especially important remembering that “artists are people, too,” as Vivienne states, and that when

working with smaller artists, it’s more likely they are aiming towards the same goals as someone

who may not be necessarily pursuing the same craft or discipline. This mantra also applies to

working on larger scale projects as Vivienne is currently doing, most recently completing a tour

with SUGA.

Jade brings up the question as to how being a fangirl may interact with or present challenges to

being a professional, to which Vivienne answers “artists are people, too.” In this context,

Vivienne is referring to the idea that while these artists may be huge inspirations and idols to

you, they are ultimately someone at their job, needing your support to do their job well. This is

an incredibly crucial mindset when working in the entertainment industry as it pertains to so

many different roles within the grand scheme of things; that everyone is just a person, doing their

own thing. In this perspective, we can lose the rose- colored lenses we may wear towards our

favorite artists to treat them how they would like to be treated, but it can also be a great

perspective to use towards ourselves. We are all just people, trying our best to do what we can in

making our dreams happen- just as Vivienne is doing.
